A central challenge in neuroscience is to
develop methods to manipulate specific target cells and monitor effects on
animal behavior and circuit function. We are developing a new technology using
ultrasound as a trigger to control cells expressing specific channels.
Ultrasound is non-invasive allowing us to target cells deep within the brain or
body without surgical procedures. I will discuss our efforts demonstrating our
method in the nematode C. elegans and now in rodents.
