Comparative Neurobiology
Prof. Dr. Kuno Kirschfeld
The main research interests of the department were the primary processes and photo transduction in the photoreceptors of insects, physiological optics, visual pigments and the ion regulation in the nervous system. Furthermore the processing of visual information in insects and vertebrates and the influence of common anesthesia on the nervous system were compared.
Kuno Kirschfeld worked as director at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics from 1968 till his retirement in 2002. His main research interests were the primary processes and photo transduction in the photoreceptors of insects, physiological optics, visual pigments and the ion regulation in the nervous system.
