Prof. Dr. Kuno Kirschfeld
Main Focus
Kuno Kirschfeld was director of the department Comparative Neurobiology at the Max Planck Institute for
Biological Cybernetics from 1968 till his retirement in 2002. His main
research interests were the primary processes and photo transduction in
the photoreceptors of insects, physiological optics, visual pigments and
the ion regulation in the nervous system. He further compared the
processing of visual information in insects and vertebrates and the
influence of common anesthesia on the nervous system.
