Main Focus
My current aim is developing methods of absolute quantification at ultra-high field (UHF) with external reference standards - namely utilizing the principle of reciprocity. Absolute quantification entails reporting results in units of Molar or Molal. By reporting in these units (and making the necessary corrections) comparing data between scanners and sites becomes more reliable.
External reference standards are of interest in cases where the internal water content of the brain is unstable or cannot be assumed. Utilizing methods such as the principle of reciprocity allow for comparison of in vivo metabolite concentrations without added scan time for the patient and comparison of metabolites without the need of ratios to potentially fluctuating metabolites.
