The Department for Sensory and Sensorimotor Systems of the Max-Planck-Institute for Biological Cybernetics studies the processing of sensory information (visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory) in the brain and the use of this information for directing body movements and making cognitive decisions. The research is highly interdisciplinary and uses theoretical
and experimental approaches in humans and zebra fish. Our methodologies include visual psychophysics, eye tracking, fMRI, EEG, TMS in humans and behavioral essays. For more information, please visit the department website: www.lizhaoping.org
We are currently looking for a skilled and motivated student to join our group with 5 hours or more per week depending on your availability.
HiWi in Visual Psychophysics (m/f/d)
Possible Tasks:
- setting up experimental equipment according to designs advised by the supervisor
- Computer programming for psychology experiments, using suitable programming languages such as MATLAB and
- Javascript
- assistance in data collection and data analysis
- coordination of human subjects for participation in experiments
- assistance in organizing scientific events such as summer school etc.
The tasks will be discussed during the application process depending on interests and skill levels.
Requirements:
- Degree in neuroscience, psychology, computer science, physics or a related natural science or engineering field
One or more of the following skills:
- Experience in conducting visual psychophysics experiments
- Programming in MATLAB, Python, Javascript, or a similar language
