The Max Planck Research Group Translational Sensory and Circadian Neuroscience at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, led by Prof. Dr. Manuel Spitschan, investigates the effects of light and other environmental stimuli on the human circadian clock, physiology, and behavior. We use a multi-modal research approach, integrating laboratory and field studies to investigate the mechanisms behind visual and circadian functions. The group is part of the international Translational Sensory & Circadian Neuroscience Unit (MPS/TUM/TUMCREATE), with team members based in Munich and Singapore. Our scientific program places a strong emphasis on methodological innovation, Open and Reproducible Science, and Research Software Engineering. We are currently looking for
Student Assistants (HiWi),
working 16 to 20 hours per week (m/f/d)
to join our team in Tübingen from 1 February 2025 or later.
About the position:
- Assist in data collection for evening chronobiology experiments with human participants
- Conduct cognitive and perceptual experiments, including the collection of biological samples
- Coordinate participant recruitment, scheduling and screening
- Maintain accurate documentation of experimental procedures
- Be integrated into a dynamic and collaborative research group
- Substantial contributions to projects may lead to co-authorship in resulting publications
Your profile:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s student enrolled in a German university in psychology, cognitive sciences, neurosciences, biology, medicine or similar fields
- Interest and/or experience in data collection working with human participants
- Interest in learning cutting-edge chronobiology techniques
- Willingness and ability to work evening shifts
- Curiosity and interest in our research
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Excellent communication skills
